OEE
Overall Equipment Effectiveness: how to measure it and improve it.
Real case
A Swedish battery factory measured by hand, for 17 days in 2023, the OEE of its stacking stage: it was 14%, against the 85% world-class benchmark (another Swedish thesis found between 43 and 50% in established plants). The main loss was availability, and it did not come from equipment failures but from how the work around the equipment was organized.

OEE in practice: a real plant case
A battery factory measured its real OEE over 17 days: it came out at 14%, far from the 85% world-class benchmark. The cause was not the equipment, it was how the work around it was organized.
OEE: what it is and how it is calculated
OEE combines availability, performance and quality into a single number, and the Six Big Losses explain where each lost point comes from.
