About the project

LKaizeN is a place to learn maintenance, maintenance management and work study with the source always in view: every article says which book, guide or paper each concept comes from, instead of presenting the theory as if it came from nowhere.

How we cite

Every article has one or more Source boxes like this one, placed right next to the concept they support:

• When the source is a copyrighted book, we cite the author and title, but we do not link to or reproduce the PDF.
• When the source is an open-access document (a public institute, a university, a free guide from a manufacturer or consultancy), we cite it and link straight to the original. We do not copy it to this site: that way the credit stays with whoever wrote it and the link always leads to the current version.
• The text of the articles is our own elaboration: we read the source, understand the concept and explain it in our own words. No paragraphs are copied.

Real cases and made-up examples

The cases that appear in each topic are published cases, with their source. When an article uses a made-up example to explain a method, it says so in the same paragraph. The values that the calculators come preloaded with are taken from a worked example in the source, and the formulas are tested with those same numbers.

Our own materials

There are no third-party PDFs to download: mixing them with our own content brings licensing problems and links that break over time. What we do have are materials made for this site: the calculators and the Excel spreadsheets, which can be used and adapted freely.

How to use the site

• On the home page, pick the symptom you have on the plant floor and follow the suggested path.
• With Ctrl K (or the magnifying glass in the menu) you can search for a topic, a tool or a formula.
• The Topics and Tools menus contain all the categories.
• The tools save what you enter in your browser; nothing is sent to any server.
• The site is available in Spanish and English: menus, articles, calculators, tool explanations and Excel spreadsheets exist in both languages.
